Hello all, I am Michelle Bates and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are all obsessed with true crime these days, well most of us. I have always been fascinated with human behavior. While my dream of being an FBI profiler did not happen (If only I could have been you Clarice Starling), I did find myself learning about human behavior and the law.
My passion for genealogy started 27 years ago while living in Germany, far away from my family for the first time. Combined with my love of history and human behavior, I have turned that passion into a business with My Genealogy Roots. Adding in the criminal genealogy was a natural progression for this true crime junkie. If you need help researching criminal records you need a genealogist to guide you and I am your girl.
Wanna talk true crime and genealogy at the same time? I have you covered with our new podcast! I will discuss the genealogy of criminal ancestors sent to me or ones I have found digging through old records and explore the history as well.
Coming in 2022 is the Cold Cases Cracked Podcast where I will explore cases where DNA and Genealogy have helped solve cold cases or exonerated those convicted of a crime they didn't commit.
From researching criminal records of our ancestors (I say "our" as in all of us because honestly, my ancestors have behaved so far #boring) to just chit-chatting about the latest discoveries in the criminal genealogy world, including how DNA is being used to crack those cold (and hot) cases.
Want to find that potentially scandalous record on your ancestor? Criminal genealogy combines searching criminal records and working with a genealogist to uncover the past, even if it wants to be left alone.
